Collection from Glasgow

Panoramic view of Glasgow cityscape in Scotland featuring historic architecture, modern buildings, and scenic skyline under blue skies
Glasgow, Scotland

Your day begins with your private driver-guide collecting you from your Glasgow accommodation. Leaving the city behind, you’ll travel through the surrounding countryside as your guide introduces the day ahead and shares insight into Scotland’s whisky regions and traditions.

We used Braw Scottish Tours for a private 5 day tour from Glasgow down to Campbeltown and then up to Oban. Everything was handled perfectly. I had some difficulty making up my mind on what we wanted to see initially, but Rae in the tour office helped me, until we created the exact itinerary that we wanted. We want to say how much we appreciated our driver, Alan. He was so kind and accommodating. He really went out of his way to make our trip more enjoyable. And, he's an excellent driver! You will be in good hands if you get Alan as your guide and driver. We love him. Our thanks to everyone at Braw Scottish Tours for helping to make our 50th anniversary trip wonderful.

Glengoyne Distillery

Your first stop is Glengoyne Distillery, set just outside Glasgow at the foot of the Campsie Fells. It’s a traditional, unhurried distillery, where time and patience play a big role in the way the whisky is made, particularly when it comes to maturation in sherry casks.

At Glengoyne, you’ll learn how the distillery uses Scotland’s slowest distillation process and why this approach produces a richer, more rounded whisky. Explore the still house and warehouses, where you’ll see how sherry cask maturation shapes the final flavor, followed by a guided tasting of selected drams. There’s also time to browse the distillery shop, which often features exclusive bottlings.

Auchentoshan Distillery

From Glengoyne, you’ll travel south to Auchentoshan Distillery, one of the few remaining Lowland distilleries and well known for its triple distillation method, something quite rare in Scotch whisky production.

Here, the experience is more technical and process-driven. You’ll learn how triple distillation differs from the traditional method and how it creates Auchentoshan’s lighter, smoother house style. You’ll get a closer look at the distillation process itself, followed by a tasting that highlights the contrast between different expressions. This stop provides a clear comparison to your morning visit and helps build a deeper understanding of how production methods influence flavor.

Clydeside Distillery

Clydeside Distillery, Glasgow, Scotland

Your final stop is Clydeside Distillery, located on the River Clyde in a restored dockside pump house. This modern distillery is closely tied to Glasgow’s maritime and trading history, making it a very different experience from the rural distilleries earlier in the day.

The visit here focuses on storytelling and setting. You’ll learn how whisky once flowed through the Clyde to the world, explore the distillery’s contemporary production space, and enjoy views across the river during your visit. Tastings here often include whiskies connected to Glasgow’s past as a global whisky hub, making this a fitting way to end the day.

If you’re searching for a private tour company in Scotland, look no further! Braw Scottish Tours offers amazing personalized planning. Their customer service is top notch and worth every pence. My family just returned from a five-day tour of the Highlands with stops in Oban, Isle of Skye and Inverness. From our initial pick up at our hotel in Edinburgh to our drop off in Glasgow, Alan, our driver/guide, was everything we had hoped for and more. We traveled by luxury vehicle exploring the beautiful country of Scotland, weaving our way through mountains, villages and endless miles of sheep filled countryside. Alan made the trip even more special by taking us to hidden gems we never would have found on our own. I loved working with Deborah as we selected, then perfected the itinerary. Castles, lochs, highland coos, kelpies, fairies, whisky, and a few Outlander locations… need I say more? We're already dreaming about our next adventure with Braw Scottish Tours!
